Favorite Book Goodies | How To Find (Great) Indie Books
What A Wonderous World
If I like something, I mean really like something, I want to roll in it like a happy dog. Splash in it like a giggling child. Rope it like a stoic cowboy, hog-tie it and smack its rump with a half-grin breaking my face while my eyes sparkle with triumph.
And when it comes to books, if I like a series I want to roll, splash, hog-tie that puppy up. Be really involved. Spout my joy.
I want the GOODS!
I want matching bookmarks, and t-shirts and doodads.
You have a plushie of one of my favorite characters?
Are you kidding!?!
You have a set of coins, matching pens, postcards, wall maps, special limited edition exclusive pre-chewed bubble gum by the author (OK, that one got away from me) – SIGN ME UP!!
Fill my pockets like my 3-year-old self at the Brach’s candy bin. (And it was winter so I was in a onesie snowsuit with pockets and a front zipper, so I looked like a tiny blue puffy Santa Claus with a tummy area full of wax-paper-wrapped teeth-locking chews.)
But the end cap at my local grocery story doesn’t have any book specific add-ons next to the Snickers, Twix and strange variations of rainbow gum up there on top. (There used to be Chicklets and Hubba Bubba and Big Red. Now there’s…gum insanity.)
Nowhere did.
Until now!!
Travel to the faraway, mystical place of Favorite Book Nerd-out Nirvana – Kickstarter.
"So many authors are now listing their newest books and series rebrandings of their older books all up on Kickstarter. And when they do, they often have the coolest fan merch."
Kick It Up A Notch
Oh yes!!!
So many authors are now listing their newest books and series rebrandings of their older books all up on Kickstarter. And when they do, they often have the coolest fan merch.
Like plushies and bookmarks and t-shirts, oh my!
So not only can you get your favorite books with colored art pages, and foiled covers, or the next one in the series before anyone else...
You also can get fun side stuff to celebrate your favorites.
So you can roll, splash and hog-tie your favorite book enthusiasm all over the place.
There is just one catch…
Patience is a Virtue
You have to wait.
In a world of flashing phones, video streaming and “it’s been 10 secs and you didn’t heart my text do you hate me now” culture, Kickstarter does not have that ingrained instant gratification.
You have to wait.
What!??!!!??!
(Hard swoon.)
(I haven’t had one of those in a while.)
(I kinda landed wrong.)
(I need to get back into the habit again cause I lost a bit of my touch. My swooning grace, I could say.)
(If my swooning is a shock to you, hang in there and go here to the beginning of my swooning adventures. It will all make sense.)
(Plus there are some chuckles in there.)
Is That All?
Kickstarter is fantastic for getting cool stuff and the newest of a current Favorite Book.
But it is also a mystical, magical, lucrative place to gather potential NEW Favorite Books.
And I will go gleefully into that next week.
Oh, Kickstarter! You make me so happy.
Have a marvelous week dear reader and wishing you great joy.
